Daily DeviationThe harder I try by ~darkprophecy - It's so sad when the road to "beauty" get so sidetracked and tragic when the harder one tries, the more distant their utopia seems... Wonderful concept , thanks for sharing. (Suggested by *madilar and Featured by ^hellfirediva)

The choice of clothes is finely contrasting with the ad on in the background.

The feeling is provocative and alluring as well as tragic. For one thing, I wasn't sure if the person looking at the models in the backgroud was a male or female - the androgyny of the shot makes it intreguing. One can "naturally assume" the person is a female desirous of becoming a fashion model and the title "the harder I try" invokes that she is doing all in her power to be noticed. On the other hand, because the person is shirtless, it can be presumed that it's a male who desires a beautiful model as a companion despite his petite frame... The sense of movement in the background also gives the capture a feeling of being overwhelming to the subject. Great job with it, Ryan - great job indeed... You carried your mistique into your art. Ilike it...

Carlos. Your reply made me smile! To 'de-mystify' slightly, this is indeed a female! I know you know this, but you made a valid point. While this pose doesn't necessarily portray her in her more usual light, there are some scary similarities. She stands a solid 6'1 in heels with pretty much the same body type and workout regimen as me. We've found a female darkprophecy!
I suppose it's a bit of a 'cliche tragedy' we're expressing here, but given that it was our first shoot, it was fun and interesting.
Thanks for your feedback! I hope to do a lot more work with her.

She's a female? She has a very beautiful body. I really love how you could assume it's either gender. Amazing.

Funny. I saw a magazine just this evening that portrayed an actress as having "cellulite" even though it could very easily have been a natural dimple on her body. (Celebrity magazines are getting more idiotic...)

Then I see this, which made me smirk because it covered the same subject in a much different light. People don't seem to realize how beautiful they are. (As long as they're healthy, right?)

You always have very beautiful art on here, whether it features yourself or another model. Glad you posted again.

Like Ph1Sch, I was also unsure of the model's sex. Only I thought that, if it's a guy, that he might be thinking about his female nature (as the ad is all females in bikinis). But, it's a girl and that changes things. I still like it, though. Very whistfull feeling to it. Might just be the title but you do feel she's daydreaming about something and, being shirtless, it's something sexual.

The ever growing distortion of the fun house mirror that is art imitating life and the deluded child looking back is life imitating art. It is a wonder that we haven't become disillusioned by the tricks of the previous mirrors but instead become more and more hypnotized by these suggestion even though we are told time and time again that it is an illusion.
